Novel polycationic block copolymers useful as antistatic agents in detergent formulations and as flocculating agents are obtained by first forming a block of units by reacting a monomer of the formula II ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 may be the same or different and is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-3 alkyl, C.sub.1-3 hydroxy alkyl and polyoxyalkylene,
