ABSTRACT:
Polyalkylpiperidine derivatives which are unsubstituted in the 1-position of the piperidine ring and in the 4-position are bonded through a heteroatom bridge to an s-triazine radical, can be converted by reaction with a dihalide or a di-, tri- or tetraepoxide into compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein n is 2, 3 or 4 and p is 0 or 1. Polymer or oligomer compounds of the formula II ##STR2## wherein n represents the degree of polymerization and E and E' represent end groups, are obtained by reacting a triazine derivative which contains at least two polyalkylpiperidine substituents with dihalides or diepoxides.
Both types of compound are stabilizers for polymers, especially against damage by light. They are distinguished by low volatility and a low tendency to migrate, so that they are of special interest for use in thin polymer layers, for example in fibres, sheets or coatings.
