ABSTRACT:
Compounds having the formula: ##STR1## and fuel soluble salts thereof; wherein R.sup.1 is nitro or --(CH.sub.2).sub.x --NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, wherein R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl and x is 0 or 1; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, hydroxy, nitro, or --NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 wherein R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl and R is a polyalkyl or polyalkyloxycarbonyl group. The compounds of formula I are useful as fuel additives for the prevention and control of engine deposits.
