ABSTRACT:
A polisher for polishing a curved surface such as a concave surface of a spectacle lens has a structure in which a polishing pad3comprising water passing grooves5having a width W of 0.1 to 5 mm is adhered to a dome-shaped elastic base member2. The polishing pad3is composed of a plurality of pads31, and the water passing grooves5are formed at the gaps between the pads31, whereby the width W of the water passing grooves5are made small. It is effective to make the pads31polygonal in shape. The polishing pad3covers the moving region6of the work8to be polished. The polishing pad3is adhered through a high-tack adhesive layer4. A polishing method is adopted in which such a polisher1is used and the work8is polished by pressing the polishing pad3against the work8, whereby the polishing pad3adhered to the elastic base member2can be prevented from being stripped by an end edge of the work8, and generation of defective polish can be prevented.
