ABSTRACT:
A plug-in electrical connector for use with an electrical submergible pumping system comprises a pothead having a first electrical connector member surrounded by a sleeve of insulative material extending from the pothead, and a terminal block with a recess therein adapted to receive thereinto the sleeve on the pothead and with a second electrical connector member set within the recess. The sleeve and the recess configured and sized to form a circuitous arc path, and the second electrical connector member is adapted to form an electrical connection with the first electrical connector member. A fluidic seal is included at the interface of the pothead and the terminal block. The circuitous arc path prevents shorting out by greatly increasing the distance shorting material, such as water, must travel from one phase to another phase or to ground.
