ABSTRACT:
A socket for dual-in-line components has two plates placed on top of the socket body between the rows of pin contact sockets. The plates are hinged together for a folding motion with the effect of a toggle lever for shutting the pin sockets on to the pins of the component and gripping them. The plates may be folded from an undone position down through a clamping position in which they are generally coplanar and then further into a position of stable equilibrium.
