ABSTRACT:
A shaft portion2aof a platen roller2is inserted into an elongated hole-like recess5aof a platen frame5so as to be movable therein. A release arm9having an engagement portion9bengaged with a shaft portion2ais swingably provided and is urged by a spring member10. A switch11has an intercept11awhich can be contacted/separated to/from the release arm9. When a thermal head1is moved against a spring force of a spring member4, the release arm9follows the thermal head1to be allowed to swing by the spring member10, thereby moving the shaft portion2ain the recess5a. When the switch1detects movement of the release arm9, it is determined that recording is impossible since the thermal head1and the platen roller2are spaced apart from each other.
