ABSTRACT:
A platelet collecting apparatus1comprises a centrifugal separator20possessing a rotatable rotor142; a first line21for allowing the flow of the blood entering the centrifugal separator20; a second line22for allowing the flow of the blood emanating from the centrifugal separator, a plasma collecting bag25connected to the first line21and the second line22so as to collect the plasma emanating from the centrifugal separator20and return the collected plasma to the centrifugal separator20, a platelet collecting bag26connected to the second line22so as to collect the platelets emanating from the centrifugal separator20, a blood delivering pump11disposed in the first line21, and a controller13for controlling the operation of the rotor of the centrifugal separator20and the operation of the blood delivering pump11. The controller13is endowed with a function of varying the rotational frequency of the rotor142during the course of blood collection in conformity with the amount of the blood entered into the centrifugal separator20via the first line21.
