ABSTRACT:
This invention relates to a plastics cellular material and to a process for production of a plastics cellular material. The plastics cellular material has a resin binder and is characterized by the inclusion of products of the reaction of polyester resins and epoxy-based vinyl esters in the presence of surfactants. The process includes taking a first mixture of an unsaturated fast curing polyester resin, epoxy-based vinyl esters, copolymerizeable monomers, a finely dispersed gas releasing salt, hardening accelerators, finely dispersed surfactants, and fillers. The process also includes taking a second mixture is mixed that includes an acidic solution, for reaction with the gas releasing salt as a blowing agent, and organic catalysts. The two mixtures are combined to form a third mixture that will foam in a controllable manner and cure to produce a foam material.
