ABSTRACT:
A plastic optical transmittable fiber having improved optical transmission loss and flexibility and good heat resistance. The fiber comprises a cladding of a copolymer comprising 70 to 99.5 mole % of 4-methyl pentene-1 units and 30 to 0.5 mole % of units of an .alpha.-olefin of 2-24 carbon atoms, the refractive index of the core being higher than that of the cladding by at least 0.01.
