ABSTRACT:
A plastic lens having a refractive index of not less than 1.55, comprising a polymer formed from dimethallyl phthalate as major monomeric constituent and, if necessary, one or more monomers represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represent each a hydrogen atom or methyl group and m and n represent each an integer of from 0 to 3, or ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent each a hydrogen atom or methyl group and n represents an integer of from 2 to 9. A method for manufacturing such a lens is also disclosed.
