ABSTRACT:
A variation with the passage of time of a response speed is reduced. In a plasma display panel having a magnesium oxide film formed on a dielectric layer covering electrodes for gas discharge, the magnesium oxide film has an oxygen deficiency amount within a range of 3.0×1017to 1.0×1020per cubic centimeter, preferably within a range of 3.0×1017to 1.0×1018per cubic centimeter. The magnesium oxide film has a crystal orientation of (220) plane orientation.
