Racemic or optionally active 2-(propargyloxyimino)-1,7,7-trimethyl-bicyclo[2,2,1]heptane of the formula (I) ##STR1## or a mixture of these isomers is prepared by reacting a racemic or optically active 1,7,7-trimethyl-bicyclo[2,2,1]heptane derivative of the general formula (II), ##STR2## wherein Y stands for oxygen atom, sulfur atom or oxime group, with a propyne derivative of the general formula (III),
