ABSTRACT:
A pitting corrosion resistant austenite stainless steel comprising not more than 0.08% by weight of carbon, not more than 4% by weight of silicon, not more than 5.0% by weight of manganese, not more than 0.04% by weight of phosphorus, not more than 0.03% by weight of sulfur, 10 to 18% by weight of nickel, 23 to 30% by weight of chromium and 0.30 to 0.45% by weight of nitrogen, the balance being iron and unavoidable impurities, and satisfying the condition of Ni % + 30 (C % + N %) .gtoreq. 20%.
