A piston for a reciprocating machine such as an internal combustion engine that has a pair of piston pin bosses that are defined by parallel surfaces that are adapted to engage and confine a connecting rod therebetween. Lubricant recesses are formed in the bosses and extend from the bore to an area where they can receive lubricant.The recesses are such that the bearing surfaces of the bosses subtends an arc greater than 180.degree..
