A lockup device7is provided with a clutch mechanism, an elastic coupling mechanism, a piston75, and a piston coupling mechanism76. The piston coupling mechanism76has a piston pilot78and a return plate79and serves to couple the piston75and a front cover11. The piston pilot78is fixed to the front cover11and supports the piston75. The axially deformable return plate79is disposed between the front cover11and the piston75. The elastic coupling mechanism is provided with a plurality of torsion springs73, a spring holder71, a driven plate72, and a drive plate74. A plurality of slit holes71deach having a width that is larger than the width W1of the first claw parts72bare formed in the annular part71aat positions corresponding to those of the first claw parts72b.
