ABSTRACT:
A piston coupling mechanism in a lockup device having a piston that presses the friction coupling part of a clutch mechanism against the front cover of a fluid-type torque transmission device is provided reduce the amount of work required for assembly. The piston coupling mechanism76of the lockup device7functions to couple the piston75to the front cover11such that it rotate integrally with the front cover11while being movable in the axial direction. The piston coupling mechanism76has a piston lug plate83, a cover lug plate84, and a return plate85. The piston lug plate83and the cover lug plate84mate in such a manner that they can move in the axial direction but cannot rotate relative to each other. The return plate85can apply an axial force against the piston75directed toward the transmission and can also limit the axial movement of the piston75toward the transmission.
