ABSTRACT:
A pipe coupling for releasably securing pipes in end to end relation uses ntrolled wedging action of contractile rings positioned between the coupling and the ends of the pipes. The pipes are disengagable from the coupling through the use of a tool inserted between the pipe and the coupling and simultaneously moving the pipe inwardly of the coupling so as to reposition the contractile rings.
