ABSTRACT:
A safety valve of the type having a valve body which is closed in response to an excess flow of fluid comprises a pilot piston which causes a sudden increase of the pressure in a cavity around the lower end of the valve stem if the pressure difference across the valve reaches a preset value, thereby controlling the valve such that is closes at a well defined setting point.
