ABSTRACT:
A cam drive is used to control the picking movement of the picking lever. The cam drive includes a dam disc which has a recess (or projection) which causes the lever to accelerate at the beginning of a pick and thereafter imparts a prestress to the spring before the cam follower of the lever moves out of the cam disc recess. A dog clutch is used to permit movement of the cam disc relative to the uniformly rotating drive shaft.
