ABSTRACT:
An apparatus for electrically transmitting the image of a pattern corresponding to the light transmission characteristic of a light-transmitting film substrate employs a linear image sensor for scanning the image of the pattern and producing a corresponding output signal, the frequency band of which is adjusted for transmission over a telephone circuit. The output signal can be made independent of magnification changes of the image-forming optical system, and the area of the pattern scanned by the linear image sensor can be set selectively. A second optical system is employed for observation and includes a retractable mirror that starts the production of the output signal when the mirror is retracted. Both a film image and data on an accompanying document can be transmitted.
