ABSTRACT:
A phosphor screen substrate is provided in which withstand voltage properties are superior, white uniformity of display image is superior, and luminescence can be efficiently reflected toward the front side. A method for manufacturing such a phosphor screen substrate includes the steps of forming a resin layer on a phosphor layer disposed on a substrate, heating the resin layer to a temperature in the range of from a glass transition temperature of a resin forming the resin layer to the melting point thereof, and forming a metal film on the heated resin layer. The resin layer provided with the metal film thereon is removed by pyrolysis.
