A phosphine oxide composition represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein P is phosphorus, O is oxygen, A is an alkylene chain of 2 to 12 carbon atoms, Z is a polar group, n is 1 or 2, and R is an ethylenically unsaturated alicyclic hydrocarbon or alcohol.
