ABSTRACT:
Monoalkylphenols are made by passing a mixture of phenol and an olefin of 8-18 carbon atoms through a catalyst bed at 250.degree.-350.degree. F. The catalyst is a granular activated clay and the mol ratio of phenol to olefin charged exceeds 2.0.
