ABSTRACT:
A process is disclosed for preparation of a lubricating oil additive comprising an improved sulfurized alkaline earth metal alkylphenate and the composition thereof wherein the said composition has a ratio of infrared absorbencies of A1660 cm.sup.-1 /A1600 cm.sup.-1 of less than 0.2 and less than 0.2 for the ratio of A1080 cm.sup.-1 /A835 cm.sup.-1.
