ABSTRACT:
Pharmaceutical compositions are described which exhibit anti-ulcer activity. They contain as the active ingredient an effective amount of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-3-indolylacetohydroxamic acid of formula I ##STR1## The compositions are suitable for oral administration. The compositions are particularly useful for treatment of ulcers caused by other pharmaceuticals such as pharmaceuticals of the steroid type, but not limited to pharmaceuticals of the steroid type.
