A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of glaucomatous optic neuropathy comprising the 4-[2-(methyl-amino)-ethyl]-1,2-phenylene ester of 2-methylpropanoic acid (Ibopamine) or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof are described.
