ABSTRACT:
A contacting unit for a card with electronic components has a base plate with an array of contacts arranged at one edge of the base plate. A cover plate is connected to the base plate at least in the area of the edge and in the area of corners of the base plate remote from the edge. The cover plate is congruant to and positioned parallel to the base plate. A printed circuit board is connected to the base plate so as to extend parallel thereto between the base plate and the cover plate. The printed circuit board and the cover plate delimit therebetween a receiving slot for a card with electronic components. The printed circuit board has a first set of contacting elements for contacting the electronic components of the card.
