ABSTRACT:
A patient support apparatus comprises a frame, at least one drop rail coupled to the frame and tiltable relative to the frame, a seat section supported by the at least one drop rail to tilt therewith, a thigh section coupled to the seat section, a head section coupled to the frame and coupled to the at least one drop rail, and a linkage coupled to the head section and coupled to the thigh section. Raising and lowering of the head section results in tilting of the at least one drop rail relative to the frame. The linkage has a first mode of operation in which the seat and thigh sections remain substantially parallel as the at least one drop rail tilts. The linkage has a second mode of operation in which the thigh section tilts relative to the seat section as the at least one drop rail tilts.
