ABSTRACT:
An improved electric motor is operated from a single phase alternating current power source and employs a start winding and a run winding connected in series. A capacitor is connected in parallel with the start winding; and the inductance of the start winding and the capacitance of the capacitor are selected to form an LC resonant circuit at the operating frequency, thereby displacing the phase of the alternating current in the motor winding by 90.degree..
