ABSTRACT:
A compound which is useful as one component of liquid crystal composition having superior practical properties and positive dielectric anisotropy is provided. Said compound is p'-cyanophenyl ester of p-(.beta.-alkoxy)ethoxybenzoic acid represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R is a straight chain alkyl group having 1 - 6 carbon atoms.
