ABSTRACT:
In the generation of oxygen using bis(3-fluorosalicylal)ethylenediimine cobalt (II) as the oxygen absorbent, the absorbent is heated to 340.degree. to 390.degree. F for 15 to 30 minutes while purging with air. This treatment before and after cyclic use removes volatilizable inert materials, i.e., those that do not absorb oxygen, and thus makes oxygen sites available to oxygen.
