ABSTRACT:
An isobutyric acid ester is oxidatively dehydrogenated in the vapor phase producing the corresponding methacrylic acid ester by contact with a heterogeneous catalyst, molecular oxygen and an amine. The catalyst may be any of a number of well known oxydehydrogenation catalysts.
