ABSTRACT:
Increased thickness for the center two coils of an overrunning clutch spring is achieved by gradually increasing the lead a few degrees before and after the central crossover point (25). This affects the centrifugal balance of the spring less than an abrupt increase in thickness at the crossover point (25).
