ABSTRACT:
Organic polymer surfaces are modified by contacting such surfaces with a halohydroxy compound and a cationic compound of an acid having a pK.sub.a >2.5. Preferably the organic polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyesters, aromatic polyamides, polyimides, and graphitic polymers and the contacting is conducted at an elevated temperature.
