ABSTRACT:
A light emitting device is composed of a pair of electrodes and an organic compound layer interposed between the electrodes. In the organic compound layer is used a organic compound shown by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a halogen atom, R.sup.2 is X--Ar.sup.1 ; X is NH, O or S, Ar.sup.1 is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring having a partial structure shown by the following formula (2): ##STR2## or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring; each of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring; each of R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring.
