The invention relates to novel pathogenic OrfF and OrfF′ polypeptides derived fromXanthomonas campestrispv.campstris, the nucleic acid molecules encoding the polypeptides and the uses of the same for detecting or preventing a black-rot disease of a crucifer plant, making organic fertilizer or composting and being a biofilter for degradation of organic compounds.
