ABSTRACT:
Novel copolyesters derived from (a) aromatic diols, (b) dicarboxylic acids and (c) aromatic hydroxy carboxylic acids, in which t-butylhydroquinone constitutes 55 to 95 mole % of the diol component (a) are disclosed. These copolyesters are anisotropic and fabricable in the melt. They generally can be processed using conventional thermoplastic shaping techniques at temperatures below 350.degree. C. into moldings, fibers and films which have outstanding mechanical properties.
