ABSTRACT:
An optical waveguide plate comprises joining layers (adhesive layers) formed on both surfaces of a main optical waveguide plate body, and rigid transparent plates thinner than the main optical waveguide plate body joined (glued) onto the joining layers. The main optical waveguide plate body is composed of, for example, a transparent material such as an acrylic resin. For example, a white glass plate or an inexpensive colored glass plate may be used for the rigid transparent plate. The optical refractive index m of the joining layer is approximately the same as the optical refractive index n.sub.1 of the main optical waveguide plate body, which is in a range of 0.8n.sub.1 .ltoreq.m.ltoreq.1.2n.sub.1. Accordingly, it is possible to increase the rigidity of the optical waveguide plate, reduce the warpage or the like, and easily and inexpensively respond to a large-sized display screen of the display.
