ABSTRACT:
An optical waveguide device1has an optical waveguide substrate19, a supporting body2for supporting the substrate19and a joining layer3for joining the substrate19and the supporting body2. The substrate19has a flat plate-shaped main body4made of an electro-optic material with a thickness of 30 μm or smaller and having first and second main faces4aand4bopposing each other, an optical waveguide provided on the side of the first main face4aof the main body4, and electrodes7A to7C provided on the side of the first main face4aof the main body4. The joining layer3joins the supporting body2at a joining face4dand the second main face4dof the main body4. The joining face2aof the supporting body2is substantially flat. Alternatively, the joining layer3has a thickness of 200 μm or lower.
