ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to coilable extensible rules or the like. More specifically, the present invention is concerned with a new and improved optical sensing system for extensible tape rules of the type that provide a visual display of the measurment readings, such as the digital tape rule described in the Hildebrandt et al U.S. Pat. No. 4,161,781, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
