ABSTRACT:
Optical recording films made from alloys of antimony-tin and a third element exhibit improved properties when formed in an atmosphere containing nitrogen. The amount of nitrogen in the sputtering environment is controlled. Improvements include higher amorphous to crystalline transition temperature and greater stability of the recorded and unrecorded film.
