An optical pickup device50comprising a laser diode1, a photo detector2, a housing3having an optical system for guiding light from the laser diode1to an optical disk and guiding light reflected on the optical disk to the photo detector, a wiring5to supply current to the laser diode1, and a metallic cover9provided outside of the housing3, whereinthe laser diode1is bonded to the housing3by adhesive, a metallic member10is mounted on the surface of the laser diode1by connecting thermally, and the metallic member10is thermally connected to the cover9by solder.
