ABSTRACT:
An optical pickup according to the present invention includes: a light source1dfor irradiating an optical disk4with light; a lens3for converging the light onto the optical disk4; a photodetector1chaving a plurality of detection regions1cf,1ctfor detecting light which is reflected from a signal surface of the optical disk4and converting the light into an electrical signal; a hologram element1ahaving a hologram region1bfor guiding the reflected light to the photodetector1c; and a light-shielding plate2for blocking at least a portion of light transmitted through a region of the hologram element1aother than the hologram region1b. The light-shielding plate2includes a light shielding portion2bfor blocking light, and an aperture2afor allowing the light to be transmitted therethrough. The aperture2bis present, above an upper face of the hologram element1a, in a region including the hologram region1b, and a center position of the aperture2bis shifted from a center position of the hologram region1b.
