ABSTRACT:
An optical packet switching system is disclosed in which a routing signal is composed of a wavelength-multiplexed optical signal and an information part and a packet end code are also composed of optical signals. In accordance with the present invention, a switching network is formed by a multi-stage combination of light triggering switches which are closed depending on the presence or absence of a particular wavelength in the wavelength-multiplexed optical signal.
