ABSTRACT:
The optical multiplexer/demultiplexer100includes a member110on which optical waveguides111to114and a groove115are formed and an optical filter120inserted in the groove115. The member110is a planar optical waveguide where the optical waveguides111to114are formed on one surface thereof, and the groove115is formed thereon. Before the groove115is formed, the optical wave guide111and the optical waveguide114are a continuous optical waveguide; and the optical waveguide112and the optical waveguide113are a continuous optical waveguide. A straight groove115is formed so as to go through an intersecting point of the two continuous optical waveguides. The optical waveguides111and114are formed straightly on the member110.
