After a tolerance of width B during the mounting of a photoelectric transfer element8is previously set, a holder3is formed so that a dimensional error A on the end portion of the holder3on the side of the photoelectric transfer element8in directions parallel to an optical axis4satisfies a condition of A<B with respect to the tolerance of width B, and then, a substrate9on which the photoelectric transfer element8is mounted is caused to contact the end face of the holder3on the side of the photoelectric transfer element 8 to form an optical module1.
