ABSTRACT:
An optical module1includes an optical component30, a body10incorporating an optical element14, and a metallic sleeve40having a tubular shape. The optical component30includes a nonmetallic ferrule32having an optical fiber insertion hole36, and a metallic holder34which covers part of the ferrule32. In this optical module1, part of the holder34is inserted into the sleeve40, and is positioned and welded to the sleeve40. The sleeve40is positioned to a tubular portion29of the body10and welded thereto.
