In optical module1a, substrate3has first and second regions3a, 3band first and second optical waveguides3c, 3d. First and second regions3a, 3bare arranged along a predetermined plane. First and second optical waveguides3d, are provided in the first region3aand extend in a direction of a predetermined axis. Semiconductor light emitting device7includes a semiconductor light emitting element7aoptically coupled to first optical waveguide3cand provided in second region3e. Semiconductor driving element9is electrically connected to semiconductor light emitting element7a. Semiconductor driving element9is mounted on mount member13. Optical element15areflects a part of incident light and transmits a part of the incident light, and semiconductor light receiving device17includes a light receiving element17aprovided in first region3aso as to be optically coupled to optical element15a.
