An optical modulator holder4402has a middle frame4409for supporting a liquid crystal panel441, a pair of frame members4405and4406for sandwiching the middle frame4409supporting the liquid crystal panel441, a second elastic member4407B and a third elastic member4407C respectively interposed between the pair of frame members4405and4406and the liquid crystal panel441, and translucent boards442A and443A respectively arranged on outer faces of the pair of frame members4405and4406. An opening4409A into which the liquid crystal panel441can be fitted is formed on the middle frame4409, and an inner face thereof serves as an exterior position reference face for the liquid crystal panel441.
